Site began swelling before I could get undressed and the swelling is still there. Now I am experiencing heart palpitations, which is brand new. Is there a correlation? And what should I do?

Based on the history you have shared, the local reaction if lead to anaphylaxis or allergic reactions it is often rapid and starts within minutes to hours after such exposures and may cause tachycardia however if local inflammation later on produces fever or triggers immune response of body it may also cause transient tachycardia. Usually it subsides once fever or inflammatory response settles but if the substance contain some cardiac chemical or something which can increase bodies sympathetic response it may cause fast heart beat or palpitations. In any case it's better to get a baseline EKG and if fast heart beat persists a 24 hours holter monitoring may also be needed.
