Hello,
This isn't and asthmatic attack, because if it was, then you would not be able to breathe in or out easily, You will feel scarcity of air within the lungs. So I don't think you need to be worried too much.
Asthmatic people are more tend to develop an infection, as there is a weakness of the respiratory system. I would advise you to keep
nebulizer machine at home so you can use the nebulizer drugs at home which your pulmonologist can prescribe. You can buy a small
pulse oximeter at home so you can check your
oxygen saturation levels at home, the good range is between 94-99. Any time the saturation level drops there might be other symptoms like
restlessness, palpitations,
dizziness, headache, discomfort, sweating,
tiredness etc. Also, you need to do regular deep breathing exercises at home without fail, as in asthma people are more tend to do breathing with the mouth than from the nose, and this might land in a fatal situation.
Also, whatever medicines are prescribed by the physician, you need to thoroughly follow it till the dose ends.
In my clinical practice, most patients I see with COPD are been put under the
pulmonary rehabilitation program, so the quality of life is improved and activities of daily living can be of ease.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
