What Causes Palpitations And Dizziness?

Hi I am 49 yrs and sometimes I get palpitations and dizziness, feeling of blacking out..... this happens sometimes when i am sitting down on the floor for doing some work, and suddenly get up..... or this can sometimes happpen on its own without a reason..... Is this a symptom related with any disease?

This is a case of postural hupotension. When you suddenly get up/ stand up, your blood from upper body(head & neck mainly) drains to lower body ( legs). So due to sudden reduction of blood in brain, brain become hypoxic (having less oxygen) and you felt dizzy. This is a natural phenomenon which does not essentially require any medicine. But if it severely disturb your personal lifestyle or recur repeatedly then you can do some blood testing ( ex. Na, k), BP monitoring, MRI spinal cord etc
