What Causes Palpitations And Light-headedness After Blood Transfusion?
Hi! A friend of mine went to blood transfusion last weekend (3 bags of blood) due to ulcer. His rbc count had been down to 8 prior the transfusion and up to 12 after the 3rd pack. Now, 3 days after his discharge from the hospital, he is experiencing palpitations and occasional lightheadedness. Is this normal? Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Please refer to emergency department and get help as this might be a transfusion reaction. Not all reactions has to be immediate there are some delayed reactions (delayed hemolytic reaction) that occurs 4-8 days after the transfusion.
