What Causes Palpitations And Swelling In The Ankles?

every time get to doing something to raise my heart beat it beats fast and my chest goes to hurting and pains shoots down my arms.and my left leg goes to sleep a lot when I am standing and pain also shoots down from my hips to my toes and my ankles stays swollen a lot too

Hello. Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic. From your description it seems that you might have an underlying cardiac ailment. Swelling in the feet along with palpitations might indicate a heart problem. Swollen feet often result from inadequate pumping of blood by the heart which leads to back pressure in the veins and fluid accumulates in the dependent parts of the body like feet in ambulatory and sacroiliac region in bed ridden patients. It is advisable to get yourself examined by a cardiologist who will conduct an ecg and echo to test your heart well being. Hope I helped you out. Thanks.
