What Causes Palpitations, Hypertension And Shortness Of Breath?

I am having rapid heart rate of 80 bpm. BP 121/69. My normal is 132/82. I have shortness of breath, fatigue and some chest pressure. I was in the ED 2 weeks ago with AFib, PVC s and flutter. With some med changes I felt better until now. Could I be back in AFib. My Cardio doctor first wanted to implant a recorder, then a Pacemaker (I don t have real low BP.) Then talked about shocking my heart or possible an Ablation. Very confusing. Feel better now HR down to 64. BP 121/61. Pauses 25 per min. Not as much fatigue or pressure on chest. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

So, describing hearts physiology, there is an SA node which stimulates the AV node, sometimes they start working independently, or there is an alternate pathway which starts stimulating them.

That is when you get fibrillation due to which your cardiac output decreases and your BP drops. Ablation would abolish this alternate pathway.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purnima Sharma
