What Causes Palpitations While Lying Down?

Hello, I am a 23 y/o m with no notable medical history. When I lay down in bed sometimes my Heart starts beating extremely fast and hard and I get very light headed. After a few seconds it returns to normal rate but I am left very light headed and I feel worn out. Should I seek further medical attention?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, welcome to 'ask a doctor' service.

I have read your question and here is my advice.

It is normal. People can feel their heart while lying down. However, if it is associated with light-headedness, then surely you should see your cardiologist to examine you in detail. Get an ECG and echo to rule out any heart problem, as this can be associated with rhythm problem in the heart.

I hope I have answered your question. I will be happy to answer anything else you want to ask.
