What Causes Palpitations While On Tramadol?

I threw my prescribed Tramadol away yesterday and I am so sick.I have a heart condition, stents and high blood pressure.Should I go to the emergency room?My heart is racing and I am physically so sick.I am scared.I did not know this was going to happen.I kept the Tramadol bottle.I do not want to be put away. All I want is for them to make sure I do not have a heart attack and maybe medication that will help with the withdrawal.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for asking this query.

It's simply side effect of tramadol. There are some reports of palpitations and increased heart rate after few minutes of taking tramadol. It might be due to it's chemical structure related to catecholamines. So in future tell your treating physicians to avoid the drug.

Regards
Dr hiren
