What Causes Palpitations While Suffering From Hyperthyroidism?

Hi I just was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. My levels are high and I spent 3 days in hospital with heart palpitations . I am off of work for 2 weeks as well, as per doctors orders. I will be seeing an Endroconalogist soon but waiting for his call. I am concerned that my blood pressure is too low now from the beta blockers that I am on now. Last night my pulse was racing out of my chest which lasted 4 hours. my blood pressure continues to be low. I just my bld pressure and the bottom number is 38. (120 over 38) the top number seems much better now but the bottom seems to be lower. Is this getting dangerous now? Also what questions would u recommend asking the specialist ?

Hi,

Racing heart can be attributed to hyperthyroidism and due to fall in diastolic pressure. You are on beta blockers to control blood pressure but these can cause drop in pressure.

Diastolic blood pressure below 60mmhg is a sign of hypotention and you have 38mmhg and that is a matter of concern. This can have deleterious impacts on body organs like kidney, brain and heart. You definitely need to see an endocrinologist and get checked properly.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
