What Causes Palpitations?

Hi I'm 19 years old 5'5" and 160 lbs. I'm a very healthy and active young woman and have never had problems with my health before. I was on birth control for almost four years and about 2 weeks ago I stopped taking it. Everything was normal until about three days ago I started having very rapid heart rate. I got an ekg and a chest x ray and nothing was wrong. Could it have something to do with stopping my birth control?

Hi,
it is less likely to be associated with birth control measures, but if you feel it to be associated, you can give a trial by quitting birth control pills (while using other birth control measures), and if it resides, all done.
While i would strictly advice you to get an EKG, during your palpitation, it will help rule out cardiac cause.

Best wishes
