sir i had an severe panic attack thrice in my life before 6 years i myself thought due to alcohol abuse it would have caused , the moment i stopped alcohol so the symtoms and side effects slowly and steadly went off...but even now when i take alcohol occasionally it seems to restart give me an advice for my remedy
well... don't drink..... Alcoholism can do this on a semi-permanent basis. Of course alcohol substitutes can temporarily mask it (valium like drugs... xanax, ativan, etc). Drugs that increase the chemical in the brain that damps down activity (GABA) will also mask it (lyrica or GABA-pentin... known as neurontin). They will work... but they aren't really fixing it. SSRI antidepressants that work best on panic attack (paxil) will also help. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_behavioral_therapy will help you cope with it. But... substitution, masking, coping, blocking.... how about Just Not Having IT by not drinking?
um... don't drink ? Ok.. there are several reasons for this. First, alcohol causes some rebound hyperexciteability of the nervous system (withdrawal tremors and/or seizures) this is NOT what you are describing if it is DURING drinking and not AFTER. Then, there is long term changes in the nervous system. Antidepressants are quite helpful on this. Then there is an entirely psychological trigger of panic attacks. If you had an attack by a bear, having panic associated with the woods is expected. Trauma associated with alcohol could be the same.
