What Causes Papule Under Nostril Oozing Greenish Yellow Pus?
Hello, so about a month ago I think I devolved a Papule under my nostril a bit above my upper lip. It was small with no color and I kept trying to poke it but nothing happened, no pus just a tiny bit of blood. Fast forward 3 days ago, I was pushing on it and later that night it swelled my lip up and tat entire area. I went to the ER and doctor told me he d just prescribe me some topical antibiotic to put over it. So today I noticed that a greenish yellow pus like color has began to appear on the surface of the bump. Any idea what this could be? Should I seek immediate help?
The presence of green and yellow pus from papule below nostril indicates infection of the previously existing boil or follicle and most common organism is staph aureus, but pseudomonas has to be ruled out as the color is greenish yellow. In my opinion, you require prescription of antibiotics as penicillin or cephalosporin for best resolution of abscess and lip cellulitis as well so that it does not spread over the dangerous areas of the face.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
