What Causes Passing Blood Clots From Rectum Long After Having A Ileostomy?

I have had flu like symptoms for over two and one half days now. I m also a cancer survivor from 2012 and I have an ileostomy. Now all of a sudden I ve been experiencing heavy cramping in my abdomen and when I use the bathroom I have several small blood clots passing from my rectum. What is causing that?

Hello,

Heavy cramping in abdomen and passage of blood clots per rectum could occur as a complication of ileostomy.

Since you are a cancer survivor I suggest you get a colonoscopy to look for any evidence of new growth.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
