What Causes Passing Of Greenish Diarrhea While Suffering From Colic In Infants?
Hi, my daughter is one month old and she has colic. We changed her formula a few times and now she is using gerber soothe. it helps with her colic but she has been crying hysterically when passing stool. There are always 2 parts to her stool. The first one is more pasty with greenish gray color, then comes a more watery seedy stool with yellow color. She goes 2-3 times a day and it s always a diaper full. Is there anything we can do or use to help relieve the pain or help her to pass stool more easily. Thank you
Babies can normally pass yellowish or greenish stool however if the baby is crying unusually more then I would advise you to visit a pediatrician with a sample of stool for testing. Pl note that some babies cry normally while passing stools however getting it checked may be necessary. To help her pass stools more easily you can increase the amount of water intake especially when the baby is formula fed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
