Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. My five year old daughter has a small, pea size lump on the back of her neck at the bottom of her hairline. She started complaining of it suddenly a few weeks ago when I was doing her hair. She said I was touching her bug bite. I did not see anything, but she will occasionally complain about it. I feel it under her skin, but can not see it or notice anything unsual on the skin. it is hard. She has been sick quite a lot of over the last year and sometimes complains of headaches or neck aches.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pea-sized neck lump. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like pharyngitis and tonsillitis , thyroglossal cyst , branchial cyst or salivary gland swellings. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may examine physically and check tenderness and consistency , take sample for lab test and order x-ray . Doctor may prescribe , antibiotics , anti inflammatory or may recommend surgical removal . Doctor may also refer you to endocrinologist for thyroid problem . For now apply warm compresses and do not touch it again and again .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
