Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 75 and my skin tears easily on my lower arms. I reached up to a top shelf in a cabinet and the latch hook jabbed into my skin and went deep in one spot and tore my skin. two flaps of skin separated from the underlying skin . They have reattatched, but there is a small end of one that is necrotic. I have been using alternate hot water with some salt and then cold pack. cleaning with peroxide and then a good triple antibiotic and loosely bandaging it. It is healing great except that there is a tiny area of black skin. I want to continue to treat it myself. Any suggestions to help? It is dry.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Continue with the care..till the wound dries. Keep the wound clean&dry with dressings. Blackness of skin is due to damage to under layer of skin. It may scab out or heal with good care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
