What Causes Peeling Up Of Skin On Clitoral Hood And Labia?

I am on birth control and I am experiencing peeling skin on my clitoral hood and labia. It stings, I don t even know if it s skin or discharge or whatever, it just keeps coming off the skin. It s uncomfortable, a little red, and tender and itchy sometimes. Stings some. What could this be? I don t think it s a yeast infection, I have no discharge and it s not hot or too itchy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Oral contraceptive pills can cause hormonal imbalance leading to dry vaginal and clitoral skin with itching. Stay hydrated, use vaginal creams and keep the area moisturized. You should get this checked by your GP as well, so he can thoroughly examine this to rule out any possibility of infection.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiba Tehrim, General & Family Physician
