General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

When PID is treated, the sexual partner/s should be treated at the same time with you to prevent recurrences.
If your partner/s did not get antibiotics as well, very likely you have recurrent PID and treatment is needed again and the partner/s should get the antibiotic even if asymptomatic.

Furthermore, doxycycline should be combined with one dose of Ceftriaxone intramuscular to cover both chlamydia and gonorrhea infection.
If pain continues after proper treatment then very likely you have developed chronic PID with adherences that cause pain.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
