What Causes Pelvic Cramping And Vagina Pain Before And After Intercourse Postpartum?
I just had my third child about two and a half months ago and when I have sexual intercourse I have pelvic cramping during and after. I have also noticed a mild pain that comes and goes in my vagina. When I went for my post natal 6wk check up everything was fine. What could this be?
Hello, I have gone through the query and understood your concern. The perineal floor muscles need to regain strength after a vaginal delivery, especially if there has been a perineal repair during the delivery. The weakness can cause spasm on and off. As sexual intercourse involves action of the muscles of the perineal floor and the vaginal wall, there can be pain on exertion. Since your check up was normal and nothing eventful was noticed, please go on with perineal floor strengthening. The pain will subside in course of time. Take a healthy diet and adequate rest. Hope this helps.
