Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have pelvic discomfort even after a bout of diarreah. I feel some of the discomfort has gone away but the lower pelvic area is crampy ( painful). However, I am a little concerned because I noticed red streaks in my bowl movement the last couple of times i had to go.( a few minutes ago). It s probable important to note that I did have a few dried cranberries in a salad as well as walnut pieces 15 minutes before I had to run to the bathroom with a bad case of diarreah. The pelvic discomfort and red possible blood in my rectum are a concern. How concerned should I be?
Pelvic discomfort, it may be painful defecation but blood stain stool needs to be ruled out.
If the color of the stool is red and no clinical symptoms are there which correlate with red color stool then it can be a food causing the red color stool.
If this is the painful defecation or cramping then it can be an inflammatory process of the rectum (ulcerative condition.)
It can be protozoa infection, it is better to confirm the blood stain stool and for that, you can get the stool routine test.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain,
