You have not mentioned your age. There may be a chance of bone degenaretive change or osteoarthritis problem. If the pain is severe you may get help from analgesic with thiocolchicosides. A proton pump inhibitor is also to be taken along with. Local application of diclofenac gel along with hot compression or short wave diathermy may help in reducing pain. Heavy weight lifting is highly prohibited. If you are obese a weight reduction by doing exercise will also help to reduce further progress. If there is degenerative bone changes found in xray calcium supplementation is also necessary.
If there is a history of local injury an x ray is recommended as the pain is increasing. There may also be a chance of spondylosis or disc prolapse as the joint movement is found to be restricted. Clinical examination along with MRI may be needed to do a proper diagnosis. If your age is above 30 a blood sugar examination also has to be done.
If the pain increases even after the above therapy you may have to visit a doctor.
