What Causes Penile Bleeding After A Prostate Removal Surgery?

My husband was released from the hospital Thursday after having Robotically Assisted Prostate Removal surgery done late Wednesday evening. Physically seems to be doing well but since yesterday he is having a lot of blood colostomy bag. There doesn’t seem to be any urine, just blood. Is this normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

No, it's not normal. Contact operating surgeon as soon as possible. As he may pass in shock. So, first visit a local emergency to get blood loss status.

Then get in touch with operating surgeon as it may be secondary hemorrhage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi
