What Causes Periodic Burning Sensation In The Left Ear?

I have periodic burning sensation in my left ear. I have been treated for shines, had my ear professionally cleaned and tested. Not sure what the problem is? It is worse at the end of the day before I go to bed. I have no known allergies. There is a possibility that this is aggravated by remodeling that is currently occurring in part of my house, but these symptoms began prior to any demolition in areas of my home.
