Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Periodic Tightness In The Chest Making One Cough?
For a couple of months now I have experienced what feels like asthma, if I were to know what that feels like. I get periodic tightness in my upper chest which makes me cough. Everytime I think that it has passed for maybe a couple of weeks, it quickly shows up again. I wear a cpap at night and was wondering if that what might be triggering it. Given that, I have made sure that I am cleaning the cpap tube regularly with a strong disinfectant. I talked to my doctor about it awhile ago and he didn t think it was asthma but it is becoming worrisome at times. I feel like my breathing is changed. Of course it is 90+ degrees here today and was wondering if the ozone levels are high. Any thoughts?
After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that high temperature can cause severe dehydration and that can cause breathlessness and near fainting symptoms.
It is recommended for you to hydrate yourself well and get an ECG and Holter Analysis ( ambulatory ecg) to rule out any underlying heart disease.
Hopefully this information will guide you properly.
Kind Regards Dr Bhanu Partap
