Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Since early this morning I have been having intermittent but moderate to severe lower left abdominal cramps and pain. I am on my period, but have never had cramps before. These pains are occurring sporadically and only on the lower left. I have gone approx 30 minutes or so without one, but then they reoccur and are frequent for a while. Any ideas?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Lavanya C's Response
Hi, I expect you are sexually active and many a time this kind of complaints are due to mild to moderate infection of pelvic organs. You should probably visit a gynaecologist for antibiotic treatment and pain relief. they might even suggest you ultrasound. hope this was helpful.
