What Causes Persistent Abdominal Cramps With Pain While Urinating And Passing Stools?

My daughter is 19 and had an appendectomy last summer. She also has a history of bad cramps during her period. Recently she has been having persistent cramping that gets worse during her period. She has pain when urinating and painful bowel movements. She has been to the ER twice while at school because the pain has been severe, and both times they recommended she see a gynecologist, which we did last week. The doctor wants us to rule out IBS and adhesions from the appendectomy. Her pediatrician thinks IBS would be highly unlikely. We re just trying to figure out what to do.

Hi,

I would advise you to do a CT scan of the whole abdomen. She can take drotaverine group of drugs twice daily.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Monish De, Oncologist
