What Causes Persistent Abdominal Pain And Constipation Post Vicodin Withdrawal?
Thank-You . I have been off Vicodin for 3 weeks now . I only did 1 a day 750 for a year and then a 1/2 for 3 months . I m totally clean now but having a heck of a time with my bowels . Constant lower belly ache and feeling a need to go but I have a hard time . Is this common for such a small dose I was taking and what should I do ? Just wait it out ? My doctor tested my liver 3 weeks ago and I was totally fine
Vicodin use is usually associated with problems with bowel movements like constipation.
What you are experiencing now is an irritated bowel syndrome following vicodin withdrawal.
So, I think you should take: - gentle laxatives (like sena, lactulose) to ease bowel movement and soften stool - increase fiber (fiber rich foods/fiber supplements-prunes, psyllium) intake to form the fecal mass properly - increase water intake to ease bowel movement too
You can find them over the counter. If still no improvement, then, should follow up with gastroenterologist.
Wish fast recovery. Dr.Albana Sejdini
