What Causes Persistent Abdominal Pain With Vomiting And Nausea?
Hi My son 20 years old had first what he thought was strep. Was tested for it and mono. Then developed severe stomach pain vomiting and nausea. He went to the hospital at that point dehydrated. Then he began developing swollen soft tissue making it hard for him to move his arms. Admitted to the hospital. Many tests and its a mystery. They released him and told him to come back next week to see infectious disease specialists. Yesterday he felt better. Now once back in his dorm room he is nauseous again and threw up. Very worried parent and son
Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of persistent abdominal pain with vomiting and nausea. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like gastroenteritis, food poisoning, infection of the urinary tract, crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome or due to improper digestion of food.
Need not to worry. Avoid intake of outside food. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order ultrasound , CT scan , stool test and endoscopy. Doctor may prescribe omeprazole , ornidazole , laxative along with analgesic. For now eat light and no spicy , drink plenty of water , take some probiotic food like yogurt or add more fruits and vegetables to your diet.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
