What Causes Persistent Ache In The Lower Left Abdomen Area?

I have a persistent ache located in the lower left abdomen area. A little above and to the left of my groin area. Any idea or thoughts? What organs are located in this area? Pain isn t sharp. It is more of a dull pain. I walk for exercise 3 to 5 miles a day. Could this be a side effect?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

What is your age? In that location sigmoid colon, descending colon, part of urinary bladder can cause symptomatology there.

If you are aged and having hard stool history, then you may have diverticula. The left kidney is backside but can cause pain in the left groin if stones are there in the ureter.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
