What Causes Persistent And Severe Pain In Abdomen?

I had really b3d pain in my abdomen.all night Tuesday. I went from being hot to being cold several times. My son is concerned it is my appendix. The area is tender. Do appendix issues come and go? Is there something I can to prevent future issues or do I need to see my Dr. What will my Dr do to determine if it is my appendix. Does it always have to be removed or can we tram at it mere?

Hi,

here can be various reasons of pain abdomen- gastritis, ulcer in stomach, diseases of pancreas, kidney or intestines. If you feel pain and tenderness more in the right illac fossa (I mean lower part of abdomen, near the site of appendix), then also there are many other reasons which need to be ruled out besides appendix. It can be due to renal stone or urinary tract infection, infection of colon (enteritis or colitis) or hernia.

I feel that if pain is severe and persisting (not responding to painkillers), then you must go for some investigations like complete blood count, urine routine, CRP, serum amylase, serum lipase and ultrasound abdomen. This will help us to make a proper diagnosis. Once the diagnosis is known then only the treatment options can be planned.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
