Hello, I have been having brown discharge every time I strain when I use the restroom. Anyway this has been going on for 2 weeks. My period is not supposed to be here for another week. I have no idea what this is. I have taken a pregnancy test and it was negative.

Hello,

Brown vaginal discharge is mostly seen with hormonal imbalance and infection.

So better to consult a gynecologist and get done a clinical examination of vagina and cervix, microscopic examination of discharge and hormone levels.

You are will need antibiotics and hormone pills. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these. Avoid sexual intercourse for 2 weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Kaushal Bhavsar, Pulmonologist
