What Causes Persistent Bump On The Head Post Injury?

5 months ago I think I bumped my head on my car doorway. I didn t notice it when I did it, but an hour later, started to feel a tender spot on my head and it was right in the area of where my doorway would hit, so I assumed that s what it was from. By the next day it was a large goose egg and was very sore. It gradually started to improve to a point, but eventually it seemed more like it was maybe bite as it seemed to have a head. Now, 5 months later there is still a sore bump. It s not as large as it was at first, but hasn t shrunk for the past several months. Is this anything to worry about? Should I have it looked at.

Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of a local hematoma. It is just under the skin of the head, not related to the brain. As it has been shrinking, there is no need to worry about it!

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
