What Causes Persistent Chronic Cough In A Child?

8 year old son has been coughing consistently all day. No fever. Was at a Drs office on Friday, said it was a virus. Really no symptoms other than the cough. Nothing helps alleviate the cough. I ve tried cough drops, honey/lemon water, humidifier, breathing cold air, vapo rub. Waiting on cough medicine.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to an upper respiratory tract infection. I suggest to give your child liquids and especially honey and lemon water. I suggest giving cough suppressant such as Dexometorphan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
