Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Cold With Swelling And Pain In Body?
I always have cold and it never goes away and it does not develop like a regular cold, but instead it affects a different parts of my body with pain , swollen, once an allergist told me that it has the symptons of an allergy but it is not because he tested me several times and always it was negative and then NOBODY knows what it is
Based on the history you have shared, it can still be allergic rhinitis as usually it may not test positive to skin prick or patch tests but cold exposure etc itself can also trigger allergic reactions.
Though in tests to it's virtually impossible to test with every known allergen and common allergen exposure is only trialed and tested. Complete blood counts for eosinophils and igE levels may be sought to confirm it.
Also, sputum or throat swab or mucous cultures to rule out infective cause may be done.
Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen along with antihistamines like cetirizine or loratadine may be helpful for symptomatic relief.
Long term montelukast may be needed for decreasing the frequencies of such attacks.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
