What Causes Persistent Constipation, Back Pain, Skin Problems And Weight Gain?
My mum has hypothyroidism which went undiagnosed for years despite blood tests. For many years she has told me to get checked as i complain of many of the symtoms she did: Chilblains Constipation or complete opposite Tailbone pain to the point i can barely sit Sensitive to cold Blood vessels burst in my fingers in winter Developed skin problems like warts Weight gain Rarely sleep My heart feels like it misses beats sometimes Rarely feel hungry Horizontal ridges on nails Years ago they tested my bloods and said it was clear, which they said with my mum at first, but they did other tests then too and later found it to be a problem. What exact tests need to be done in order to establish if my symptoms are from this please?
Some of the symptoms you explain can be caused by thyroid problems and having a family member that had thyroid problems it might be a good idea to have it checked.
The first two tests we do generally to evaluate thyroid function is TSH and FT4, if these come out normal then it is very likely your thyroid is normal. If there are abnormal values of these tests then they can lead to the right diagnosis and treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
