What Causes Persistent Cough Along With Difficulty While Swallowing?

I have had a cough for about 2 weeks. I don t feel bad, my throat does not hurt, no runny nose, it is not hard to swallow and my appetite is fine. Up until about 4 days ago I couldn t even detect any phlegm but I am noticing some. I have not used any prescription or OTC medications because I am not bothered very much by this, however with it lasting this long I felt I should check with someone. Thank you, John

Hi there.. there is absolutely no harm in taking an expectorant syrup or tablet of your choice over the counter....
Still , if you arent too fond of medication , I would suggest you to perform a steam inhalation with little salt or karvol plus( camphor/ menthol/ eucalyptus) in it... this causes the phelgm if any to get thinner and drain out....
