Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Cough And Dizziness With Throat Congestion?
Have had throat congestion for two weeks. No OTCs seem to break it up. I have been coughing, mostly unproductive. Coughing is now causing dizziness. When I have more than a couple of sequential coughs, I get dizzy and last night it felt like my windpipe collapsed for a minute. I couldn t breath.
The symptoms you menton in query are pointing towards severe upper respiratory . The infection is probably a strep throat which due to lack of treatment has spread to ear through eustachian tube and deep in to respiratory track and causing respiratory problem . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay . Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test or virus culture test . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) at least for 10 days along with decongestants and mucolytic agents . For now do warm saline rinses , take steat and give your ear warm compresses .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
