What Causes Persistent Cough And Fever In A Child?

My husband and I are sitting here debating weather or not to take our 2year old to emergency. She started with a fever and coughing on Monday morning and it s continued on and off all week so far. She s drinking sufficient amounts of water, eating decent, playing during the day with low to no fever. The coughing is on and off during the day with no signs of difficulty breathing. She also has a runny nose. Then tonight, as she was going to bed, she had a coughing fit and spit up a small amout of clear liquid twice. She seems to be resting okay right now, her fever is at 103.0 degrees. I don t hear or see any signs of labored breathing and her nostrils are not flaring, her BPM is 38. Tomrrow will be the 4th day of fever if it continues and I will plan on taking her to see our doctor then. Thank you .
