What Causes Persistent Cough And Thick Yellow Drainage From Nose?
I have had what I believe is a sinus infection. Took over the counter medication. When this all started I had a fever of 102. But that went away. What lingers is a cough and thick yellow drainage from my nose (just one side). Will this also stop. It has been about ten days. Should I get further medication. Thanks

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of persistent cough and thick yellow drainage from nose which is due to severe upper respiratory tract infection. The symptoms can also occur due to post nasal drip and sinusitis. It seems due to poor immunity of body you are highly susceptible and prone to infections.The infection is probably a strep throat. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. . For now do warm saline rinses , take rest. Avoid taking cold beverages. Taking steam will help your alot .You should take mast cell stabilizers to prevent from infection. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay . Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test or virus culture test. You should get an x ray of the chest. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for 10 days along with mucolytic agents. Go for complete blood count and platelet count to rule out any hidden systemic pathology. You should drink warm water with one spoon of honey twice a day the day .
