What Causes Persistent Cough Despite Taking Pantoprazole?
I am 62 years old and have acid reflex and have developed a persistent cough. I have been taking pantoprazole for about 6 weeks40mg twice a day. I still have the cough(wakes me up) but not quite as bad. I went to once a day and one night and I had a bad coughing. I have gotten a very sore side from the coughing. Is this a good medicine for this problem? I have been to many Doctors and they have by process of elimination this is my problem. Thank you, Terri
I can understand your concern. As per your query about persistent cough and sore throat, it is due to upper respiratory infection and needs antibiotics and anti inflammatory medication. Pantoprazole medication will not give relief as it is for treatment of acidity and other digestive problems.
I suggest you to consult a physician for getting a right antibiotic and a right cough syrup after proper chest examination and necessary investigation.
I hope this information helps you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Jyoti Pandey
