my children suffering on continuous cough,I have allergic problem,my wife's family also have the allergic back ground. one is 7 year and another one is 4 .Please suggest me the correct treatment.I dont think continuous cough syrup is not a good remedy.Please suggest.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of persistent cough which is due to severe upper respiratory tract infection. It could be due to severe allergic reaction as well. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Avoid giving cold beverages. You should take mast cell stabilizers to prevent from infection. You should avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods. For now do warm saline rinses , take rest. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay . Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test or virus culture test. You should get an x ray of the chest. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for 10 days along with mucolytic agents. Go for complete blood count.
