What Causes Persistent Cough, Weakness And Fatigue Despite Taking Avelox?
My 89 year old father just got out of the hospital . He was admitted with pneumonia which they believe was an aspiration pneumonia. He was given Avelox 400 mg in an IV and then switched to the oral antibiotic. The total course of treatment is 6 or 7 days. My concern is whether this is a long enough course of treatment. He has not had a fever but is still co ugh int and is weak and fatigued. He took his last dose of Avelox on Saturday.
Pneumonia is a lung infection which is treated by antibiotics.
It is very normal that it may cause weakness and fatigue.
These symptoms can also be related to the use of antibiotics.
Cough may continue for three weeks after the treatment.
I suggest you to eat a healthy diet, drink liquids and rest.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
