What Causes Persistent Cough While Lying Flat?
My mother (60 years) is having dry cough. The dry cough is accentuated while lying down. When she is sitting straight, cough is very intermittent. Doctor has prescribed Clavam 625, but over 2 days, there is no improvement. She doesn t have any sneezing or mucus. Sometimes thick saliva comes out while severe coughing at night. Kindly suggest.

Hi,
From history it seems that she might be having lower respiratory tract infection and while lying down position cough accumulates on back and lower side of lungs causing more cough bouts.
Continue with antibiotic medicine and some expectorant syrup.
Ask her to do deep breathing exercise.
Ok and take care.
