What Causes Persistent Cough With Excess Greenish Throat Mucus At Night?
I have a persisting cough that gets worse night or when I wake up when I cough a lot of green mucus comes up I have stuffy nose sore throat and when and after I cough I get sharp pains in my shoulders I am also pregnant and don t want anything huRtf the baby
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Greenish mucous with coughing symptoms appear that you could be having upper respiratory tract infection. Since you are pregnant, you need to avoid intake of certain antibiotics and other medications. Kindly do the following to overcome it. 1. Do salt water gargling with warm water twice daily. 2. Take steam inhalation twice daily to liquify mucous and it's easy drainage. 3. Take syrup containing Bromhexine, only when necessary. If the symptoms do not get better and subside by 3 days, you may need antibiotic course such as amoxacillin. Kindly consult Physician in such a case for prescription of such antibiotics and proper dose and duration. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best. Dr.Ashakiran.S., MBBS., MD.
