What Causes Persistent Cough With Excessive Salivation?
Hello Dr. My name is Angela. My mum has been experiencing cough for over a month now, we have used different cough syrup and drugs ,still no change, now she is experiencing a movement in her throat and she silivates very often. What can we do? We done Xray to check, but nothing was found
As per your query your mother is suffering from cough and also have hyper salivation . Well the symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as acid reflux . This occur due to dysfunction of upper esophagus sphincter and allow the acidic content of of stomach to come upward and this irritaate the lininh of throat and produle cough . Also body produe excess salive to neutralize acidity . I would suggest you to avoid spicy and heavy meals specially at night , eat at least one hour before going to bed , take a light walk after every meal , eat small and frequent meals and elevate your head while sleeping . Consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order endoscopy of esophagus , X-ray of upper digestive track and ambulatory acidity test . Doctor may prescribe proton pump inhibitor and H2 blocker .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
