What Causes Persistent Cough With History Of Chest Infection?

Hi, I have had a chest infection and have been on steroids and antibiotics. I now have a persistent cough that catches my breath. I sometimes going into a coughing fit and start dryreaching. I also get really hot and feel like I have prickles on my back when the coughing fits start. Thank you

Hello and welcome.

It could be possible that your infection was more serious than it may have seeemed. Some infections can leavr scar tissue or even remain despite a course of antibiotics, resulting in the cough being persistant. I would recommend a chest x-ray and a visit to a pulmonoligist to help confirm the cause and treat it accordingly.
