Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Cough With Intermittent Pain In The Ear?
Sure. I am currently having a persistant cough that will just continue and continue. I also have very tender areas under my tongue and below my right ear, with intermittant pain in my ear. Once the coughing starts it seems it will never quit. My diaphram now hurts and my ribs. I am taking variously medications and am reluctant to take Nyquil cough medicine. In the past I have been sensitive to antihistamines. I m concerned that this medication may interact with the one or all of the various prescribed medications that I am on. I ve been without sleep for two nights and am hoping that tonight will not be the third.
Do you have fever/cold? If you have any constant touch will allergic material, dehydration they might also cause a cough.
I suggest you take T. Myospas with a lot of warm water this will reduce your cough and diaphragm irritation and take up a consultation with an ENT surgeon to clarify about any lymph node enlargements and have further treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Indhu Priyadharshini, General & Family Physician
