What Causes Persistent Diarrhea Despite Taking Medication?
I completed Harvonie 2 weeks ago on the 27th of June 2016. Since then I have had diarrhea 2 or 3 times in the a.m. I have taken Immodium 3 times but the diarrhea returns. It is very watery, smelly and crampy. I was wondering if this is reason for concern or just a normal purging of the Harvoni. I am eating and feeling O.K. otherwise. I am 78 yr. old female in good health.

Persistent diarrhea inspire of treatment could be due to-
- Bacterial resistance to medicines taken
- Persistent reinfection to lack of bad hygiene depletion of Lactobacilli,(which protect intestinal infection)--as a side effect of antibiotics.
