What Causes Persistent Dizziness And Chills In A Diabetic Person?
hello Doctor, My mom lives in Birmingham, AL and I am in FL. She called to say she was dizzy and has chills. She said she can t seem to get warm. It is 86F there right now. A neighbor went to check on her and said she seemed ok. She has not taken any new meds and is in amazingly great health for her age although she is a Type 2 diabetic. She does extremely well monitoring her blood sugar. Is there cause for concern? Her primary care doctor s office is closed.
She must have to check her random blood sugar by one-touch sugar strip.
She may need to take few sugar cane or some sweet chocolates for a while to balance the sugar level.
Perhaps if the dizziness is not troubling your day to day work, then you may wait for few days.
Until then you may take proper hydration and electrolyte balance with some symptomatic antihistamines treatment like betahistidine or cinnarizine 75
However if the problem is persistent, you should see a doctor at the earliest and get evaluated further.
I will suggest you undergo routine blood count, ESR, blood electrolytes, tests for vestibular (balance) system like electronystagmography or rotation tests to diagnose the cause for dizziness.
Regards,
