Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have been having dizziness since December 10. The doctor ordered a CT scan a couple days ago and the only thing this showed was Moderate amounts of mucoperiosteal thickening left maxillary sinus. I know that this means a sinus infection but I don t think I have had this since December 10. Would this cause dizziness? The dizziness has been mostly when I get up or lay down. I also get it at times when I turn my head. However, the day I went to the doctor I had dizziness so severely that I was sick to my stomach. What could be causing this?
We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, it can be due to inner ear issues or part of benign positional vertigo. Postural hypotension needs to be ruled out along with serum electrolytes and thyroid levels as well as sugars monitoring.
An ENT specialist review or neurological examination and neurologist opinion may be needed. Supplements for calcium D3 B12 and folic acid may be started.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
